The North Atlanta Varsity Boys Basketball Team kicked off their 2020-21 season on Thursday, Nov. 19th with a 70 – 45 win over the Riverwood Raiders. It was a true team effort for the Warriors with many players contributing to the win. Charlie Hamilton led all scorers with 20 points highlighted by an early steal and dunk to score the first points of the season. Montavious Myrick was a monster on the boards with 16 rebounds and 4 blocks while contributing 9 points to the cause. K’hamani “Neem” Olivacce led the team with 8 assists and chipped in with 13 points including two 3’s. Second leading scorer TJ Lewis (14 pts.) teamed up with Myrick in the 3rd quarter for a spectacular alley oop dunk. Shout out to Neem for the back pick he set on Mont’s defender on the play. Tyson Motton’s veteran moxie was on display on both ends of the floor with savvy defensive play and some sweet passes to cutters for easy baskets. Key to the win was solid defense and rebounding leading to easy buckets on offense. The Warriors dominated inside scoring 46 paint points while shooting over 50% from the field. The Warriors play against South Gwinnett on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 7:00PM in the North Forsyth Raider Classic before breaking for Thanksgiving. After Thanksgiving, the Warriors kick back into gear on Saturday, Nov. 28 at Campbell High School at 7:00PM. Both games are open to spectators but look online to get tickets in advance. The region schedule begins on Dec. 3 at home on against Langston Hughes. Onward Warriors!
